As a minor post-war historical note, 6 STR/R was renamed 417 Sqn., March 11, 1968, remaining as the CF-104 OTU, until the squadron was disbanded on July 1, 1983.
Based on Hasegawa's F-104J, this is built almost straight from the box, with the only modifications being; a bit of Milliput used to fair over the cannon muzzle on the port side of the nose, the addition of extra cockpit detail, and a scratch-built 'Vinten Vicon' camera pod added under the fuselage.
The NMF was achived by using a mix of various shades of Testor's Metalizer, Floquil 'Old Silver', and SNJ aluminum paint and buffing powder. The dayglo panels were painted with Gunze 'H98 Flourescent Orange', the wing topsides Gunze 'Gloss White' and the wing undersides/radome, a custom mixed (Gunze paints) to match Grey 501-103. Finally, the tailplane was Gunze 'Gloss Red'.
