Kit: Academy

Scale: 1/72

This is the academy 1/72 A-37B kit, backdated to an A model (pitot relocated to nose, vortex generators added in front of ailerons, ejection seat headrests backdated). The model is finished in Model Master enamels, and wears Wolfpak decals.

The model depicts an aircraft of the 604th Air Commando Squadron, based at Bien Hoa in 1967. As part of the combat evaluation of the A-37, an experimental scheme of overall pale blue was tested alongside the common USAF South East Asia scheme of tan and greens over grey. The tests showed no great advantage to the blue scheme, and the aircraft were difficult for ground-based air controllers to spot on the attack runs, so the scheme soon disappeared.
